Acne Redness
The worst thing that can happen before a big event is an acne alert, and not just any acne, big, red, and painful acne. So to help you treat this emergency, here are some steps you may want to try:
Toothpaste is not just for your teeth
On the night before the event and you have seen that your acne has gotten redder, you may want to get your toothpaste and pat a small amount directly to your acne. You may do this before you go to bed. The morning after, you will notice that there is an immense difference.
Garlic
Another almost unbelievable step is for you to use garlic. Simply gently rub a garlic clove to your acne. This reduces the redness. But be careful not to overdo it as it may only aggravate the condition of your zit. You wouldn’t want it to be redder and more painful because it was irritated by your rubbing.
If you do this carefully, you will see the effects almost instantly.
Ice it up
Nothing beats the use of ice. Since acne is usually red because of the swelling, applying ice to it can counteract its action and suppress the swelling. You can wrap the ice in a clean cloth and apply the compress directly to the affected area. You can do this as long as you want to. After that, you can loop up in the mirror and you will see that there is obvious difference in the level of redness.
However, this method may be very temporary. After the effects of the cold has gone, and the swelling of the acne returns, so will its redness.
Tea, Anyone?
You may also use a wet tea bag, used or unused, it doesn’t matter that much. Apply this directly and hold it to your acne for a minimum of minutes. After that you will notice the significant reduction in the swelling.
Lemon
This fruit has many wonders and miracles, especially when it comes to beauty problems. For reducing acne redness, you will squeeze the lemon juice over a clean cloth and hold it over the area.
De-red it
Eye drops can also be used as an alternative fro all the above remedies. This is very effective in reducing the swelling and the consequent redness. Red eye formula drops have components whose real actions are to reduce the redness of tired and irritated eyes. However, your doctor might discourage you from using this type of treatment.
When you have a big, bad looking pimple, sometimes it is very tempting to puncture it, or squeeze it. But don’t ever do this as it will only leave you with a redder acne as well as a scar that will take years to totally fade away.
Apart from these steps there are also other ways which you can use to effectively erase the redness of your acne. But, after you have exhausted all possible do-it-yourself measure, you may want to seek the advice of a dermatologist and see what she can recommend you to use.
